Research Opportunties with the Melconian group

There are no actively open positions at this time. However, a new position may be opening soon, so if you are interested in joining our group in any of the capacities listed below, please contact me for more information!

Post-doctoral researcher

While we don't have an official opening for a post-doctoral researcher at this time, we are always looking for good, highly-qualified people! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you are interested.

Graduate Students

I have a number of projects which are suitable for M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in experimental nuclear physics. My research, though based in weak interaction studies spans many different fields and techniques (atomic physics, ultra-cold neutron physics, γ-ray spectroscopy, …), all with the goal of testing particle-physics models. The work is very demanding and extremely challenging, and therefore also very rewarding. It requires a dedicated, exceptional candidate who is passionate about research. In general, graduate students do one year of teaching for experience, and thereafter become a Research Assistant for the rest of their degree, with us covering your tuition and fees.

Undergraduate students

Undergraduate students can have a rewarding experience working on a small project in a research environment to help them decide if academia is for them. I have had students registered for research credit hours, and have hired them as student workers. I always seem to have a number of projects undergraduates interested in experimental nuclear physics could work on: detector development, data analysis, software development…. Anything from sitting in front of a computer writing code to torquing a wrench on vacuum equipment!
