From Color Fields to Quark Gluon Plasma

Abstract:

The initial state of colliding nuclei at very high energies is believed to be described by the so called color glass. I introduce a nearfield solution of the corresponding field equations that allows us to determine the gluon field at early times after the collision. We find that strong longitudinal (color)electric and magnetic fields are dominating. I discuss a calculation of the energy momentum tensor of the fireball at early times that can be used for a further hydrodynamic evaluation.
