QCD, hadrons & equation of state from the lattice

Recently, lattice QCD reached a new level robustness providing full results for many relevant questions. I summarize the reasons –both theoretical and computational-- for this development and discuss several of these new results. The main emphasis is put on our knowledge about the phase diagram of the strongly interacting matter.
