Jet Measurements in Heavy Ion
Collisions with an
Upgraded PHENIX Detector, D. Morrison, Brookhaven
National
Laboratory, Upton, NY,USA
− Measurements
of jets from heavy ion collisions are critical to characterizing
the properties
of the produced hot, dense matter.A new
spectrometer at central rapidity at the PHENIX experiment is being
designed
which will cover large solid angle with uniform response for
electromagnetic
and hadronic energy and will enable more precise measurements of
jet
properties.A
conceptual design for the
detector and its expected physics capabilities will be presented.
