Probing
Properties of QCD Matter with Strange and Heavy Quarks at RHIC,
H. Z. Huang, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of
California, Los Angeles, CA 90095 − Nucleus-nucleus collisions at
Relativistic
Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) can produce drops of partonic matter at
high
temperature and high energy density. We
will review recent experimental measurements of strange and heavy
quark
production from nucleus-nucleus collisions at RHIC. We will highlight features
of particle
production from the drops that are indicative of a deconfined and
approximately
strangeness equilibrated QCD partonic matter. Future perspective on
strange and heavy quark
probes of the QCD matter at RHIC will also be discussed.
