Institute Employment Opportunities:
Postdoctoral Position in Precision Low-Energy Weak-Interaction Physics
The Cyclotron Institute at Texas A&M University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in experimental nuclear physics, with a starting date of summer or early fall of 2008. The successful candidate will work in the research group of Prof. John Hardy, who currently focuses on high-precision measurements that test the electroweak standard model and other related physics. Tenure-Track
Faculty Position in Nuclear Chemistry
The College of Science at Texas
A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty
position in nuclear chemistry, with an anticipated starting date
of September 2008. Applications at the assistant professor level
are especially sought, but appropriate advanced candidates will
also be considered. The successful candidate will be expected
to establish and maintain a vigorous independent research program
at the Cyclotron Institute and to teach at the undergraduate and
graduate levels within the Chemistry Department.
Postdoctoral Nuclear Physics Research Associate Position
The Cyclotron Institute at Texas A&M University is inviting applications
for a postdoctoral research associate in experimental nuclear physics. We
are interested in probing fundamental symmetries via precision
measurements of ß-decay observables both at the Cyclotron and at
at other laboratories. The facility at the Cyclotron Institute is based
on a K500 superconducting cyclotron and is currently being upgraded to
include accelerated radioactive beams where we are initiating a program to
measure a number of T=2 ß-delayed proton decays as tests of
isospin-mixing corrections used to extract Vud from
the T=1 superallowed decays. We are also a part of the
TRINAT collaboration at
ISAC/TRIUMF (Vancouver, Canada)
which utilizes laser-cooling and trapping
techniques to search for scalar and right-handed currents in ß
decay, and are a member of the UCNA collaboration at Los Alamos National
Laboratory where we will measure Aß from the
decay of ultra-cold neutrons to 0.2%.
Candidates with a recent Ph.D. in nuclear physics (or related field)
interested in one or all of these research programs are encouraged to
submit a curriculum vita, including the
contact information for three references, to Prof. Robert Tribble, Cyclotron
Institute, Texas A&M University, 3366 TAMU, College Station, Texas
77843-3366, or via e-mail (tribble@comp.tamu.edu). Review of
applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is
filled.
Texas A&M University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer
that is dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse and
pluralistic faculty and staff who are committed to teaching and working in
a multicultural environment. We strongly encourage applications from women,
minorities, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
Postdoctoral Positions
Texas A&M University Cyclotron Institute
Applications are invited for
postdoctoral positions in experimental nuclear physics at the
Texas A&M University Cyclotron Institute. Initial appointments
will be for one year with normal renewal for one or two additional
years. The scientific program at the Institute is built around
a K500 superconducting cyclotron. Ancillary equipment includes
a high-resolution spectrometer, a recoil ion spectrometer, a fast
tape-transport with detectors for high-precision decay studies,
and high efficiency arrays for detecting neutrons, gamma rays,
and charged particles. Positions may be available in various areas
of interest in the laboratory. Applicants should send curriculum
vitae and arrange to have three letters of reference sent to Prof.
Robert Tribble, Director, Cyclotron Institute, Texas A&M University,
College Station, TX 77843-3366. Texas A&M University is an
equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from women
and minorities.
